Inglis Easter Yearling Sales

Inglis have amended the start times for next week's Easter yearling sales to 12pm each day. This came after calls from Aushorse Australia, and the Thoroughbred Breeders Association to extend the start times allowing for greater inspection times of the 480 lots.

Mick has been very happy with the number of inspections for what will be the final sale at the Newmarket complex. "We've had a lot of interest right across the draft, I'm rapt with the feedback we've received moving into next week and know we have got a group of horses that will meet the markets high expectations".

The Seeding process begins...

Farm Manager James Smart has been organising to spray and re-seed the paddocks this week ensuring that there are plenty of Winter pastures. James works closely with Landmark Scone Agronomist Maisie Morrow, who doubles as Merriwa’s entrant in the upcoming Sydney Royal Easter Show Showgirl competition. We’re not sure spending time with James is the best thing for her eloquence, but wish her the all the best at the upcoming show.

Sooboog Resumes in Manihi Classic

The Darren Weir trained Sooboog will resume this Saturday in the Listed Manihi Classic at Morphetville Park.

Coming off a last start Group 3 victory down the straight at Flemington in the Aurie's Star, Sooboog’s 1100m first up assignment looks the ideal stepping stone to late Autumn and Winter racing.

Drawn barrier 5 for Saturday’s race, with John Allen to ride, Sooboog faces a quality field with the likes of Casino Wizard, a winner of his past two starts at Listed level in Adelaide.

The Lloyd Kennewell trained Viddora also resumes from a spell following a luckless second behind Target In Sight in the Magic Millions Sprint on their $10 million raceday.

Weir has been pleased with the entire's progress since joining his stables the end of last preparation, “To date, Sooboog’s first full preparation with me has been great, he is in great shape, obviously he is a beautiful horse, with a serious presence.”

Usually kept to the sprint distances, Weir is confident of Sooboog getting over more ground this preparation highlighting his versatility, “With the preparation so far going perfectly, the main target will likely be the Group 1 Goodwood at Morphettville, and if we are all happy then onto the Brisbane carnival”.

Kitchwin Hills have already secured the breeding services of this outstanding son of Snitzel, and look forward to standing him in the 2017 season.

Stud manager Mick Malone says he is excited by what Sooboog brings to the table, “He is an outstanding physical specimen, a tough fast racehorse to suit Australian conditions”.

With breeding rights already taken up by leading industry participants, Sooboog’s future on and off the racecourse is looking bright.
